Jane Blackman
Jane graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1999 with an MA in Ceramics and Glass and since then has exhibited widely in the UK and Internationally.
Jane combines painting and ceramics to make three dimensional paintings. She works intuitively, creating expressive abstract landscapes on the inside of slab-built earthenware vessels, the form acting as a frame for the painting within. In contrast, the chalky white exteriors are calm and precise with clean-cut edges emphasizing shadow and line.
In other work, Jane explores the textures and rhythms of the natural environment, features normally hidden from view but revealed through aerial photography, topography and the fossil record.
