Andrian Melka
Andrian is a British-Albanian figurative sculptor. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana and moved to England with a Getty scholarship to study at the Building Crafts College in London where he was awarded the City & Guilds Silver Medal for Excellence and Freedom of the City. In 2003 Andrian opened his own studio. He is a QEST scholar and member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors and Art Workers' Guild.
Whether carving figures, busts and portraits in stone and marble, or sculpting them in clay to cast in bronze, Andrian seeks to capture the essence of his subjects, creating sculptures that seem to come to life and resonate on a deeply personal level.
The themes of strength and vulnerability, and obsession with the idealised human form, permeate his work as he explores the allure, and illusion, of physical perfection.
